WAKMANN GERMANY

WAKMANN GERMANY

A Beautifull Pointerdate example from Anteus (timezone.com)

Hoy Wakmann sólo Utiliza  movimientos, alemanes y suizos

WAKMANN GERMANY

Wakmann was a German watchmaker in the 70 for popular chronographs

Traditionally asociated to  Gigandet  (Gigandet-Wakmann)

In the  40´s, 50´s  and 60´s they did very interesting watches with Valjoux calibers

In the late 60’s the distribution company was based in New York.

In 1975 and 1976 was devoted to the distribution and importation of Breitling watches, activity again held from 1990 along with Buren.

Their clocks are described in 1974 in major catalogs and in particular a 17 jewelswith day-date calendar and alarm

And also they popularized several  jump hours models, in the gallery you will appreciate a couple of wonderful three subdial

Chronographs with Valjoux movement, like the Wakmanns «Pointerdate»

and their most successfull model , the «Rainbow Watch»,

a very colorfull chronograph in gold and black dial, that used an exquisite Lemania caliber,

http://www.ranfft.de/cgi-bin/bidfun-db.cgi?10&ranfft&0&2usau&1125343275

and whose design does not left anyone indifferent.

Most of their jump hour models reminds the classical taximeter too.

Today the Brand , continues to manufacture vintage styled watches at affordable rates,

Unfortunaltely likewise absorbed time ago under the trias (germanasian branding) manufacture

Made in germany  But  with China  manufactured movements  &  Now under the Timekeeper brand,

so honestly not very recommendable.*

Benno Richter

Benno Richter

Benno Richter is well known as the Breitling specialist and writer of the famous Breitling book. Worldwide and specialy around erurope, he is very famouse as “the Breitling knower”.

His book created a new reference for collectors, specialists and watchlovers. But he is also a great watchmaker and a real master in watchmaker-art. His engineer-office of time-measuring is also very well known for its high precision and quality.

WAKMANN Germany stands for quality and highest request. Since we started, we took care that high grated technology is used to reach and exceed international standards. Due to this and because of the close solidarity of Wakmann and Breitling in the 70′s and 60′s, Benno Richter was the initiator of another successful co-operation.

As an advisor and technical leader, he is actively and decisive involved in development and manufacturing of our watches.

Thats why some of the first new WAKMANN Germany watches will be labeled as “by Benno Richter”.

The Breitling Book

The Breitling Book

The Watches by Benno Richter

Since a few years ago, “Benno Richter” labeled wristwatches are available.

But in the past, they have only been sold to good friends and a very small circle of some special resellers.

Now These watches will also be available in the future and be part and complete the collection of  WAKMANN Germany.

WAKMANN Germany watches are produced currently under maximum quality standards.

Every watch is regulated under severest controll of Benno Richter.

Only the best watches can pass the final controll and get his appoval for selling.

Service and technical works are made at the engineer-buero of Benno Richter and controlled by himself.

*EDIT & UPDATE EXPLANATION
The previous link  Directing to timekeeper.de   is no longer valid

As this entry was written some years ago when i could only find current wakmanns
from the economic  range,  and some Sorna/Breitling hommages of  successful models from the 70´s

..but with  Asian calibers, the information about contemporary wakmanns

could be misleading and its  now obsolete.

It seems lately that the Brand has decided to follow the path of Stowa and raise the bar
offering  limited editions made in Germany and incorporating  high quality Swiss calibers
and even sometimes with vintage movements.
From Boris (Wakmann.de)
«When Timekeeper (now Timekeeper Chronometrie Germany)
decided to take over the historical brand Wakmann,
there was a short period of  time – before WAKMANN was officialy registered to our company –  When Trias
produced asian watches, labeled with Wakmann branding.

All those watches you can find on ebay and other market places are remaining-stocks/left-overs from that time

and NOT related to WAKMANN Germany.»

Today Wakmann only use german and swiss movements,

and our watches are also produced in Germany and Switzerland only.

Currently there is a new website and a facebook page in order you can witness that

  3. Hello again and thanks for the update.

I would like to offer you some historical WAKMANN documents like advertisements, certifications, catalogues, etc Please let me know, if you are interested. They are available as pdf or jpg.

I left my mailadresse, so pls contact me and I will send you some documents like the once you can see in our blog.

We also bougth a lot of historical/vintage Wakmann watches for our own WAKMANN-Museum – so I can also offer you some nice photos of different models from different times.

Some last words on the asian movements. When Timekeeper (now Timekeeper Chronometrie Germany) decided to take over the historical brand Wakmann, there was a short time – before WAKMANN was officialy registered to our company – Trias (as you said) produced asian watches, labeled with Wakmann. All those watches you can find on ebay and other market places are remaining-stocks/left-overs from that time and not related to WAKMANN Germany. We do only use german and swiss movements and our watches are also produced in Germany and Switzerland only.

Unfortunately I couldnt find an email-address to send you those informations – thats why I decided to place them as a comment. I hope thats ok for you, otherwise you can take those informations and erase/edit this comment.

Best wishes and greetings to all watch collectors and lovers of vintage models out there.
