SPACEMAN – LAS REEDICIONES MODERNAS  Y DISEÑOS  RELACIONADOS

Desde su aparicion en 1972, 

El diseño de los Spaceman de Andre leMarquand, siempre dejo huella en otros grandes diseñadores
y personajes del mundo de la farandula

la estica «funky» de estos relojes ha servido de inspiracion durante años a muchos famosos diseñadores que inspirandose en ellos se atrevido con formas inusuales y divertidas

la busqueda del futurismo, y la corriente Space Age aun esta viva y puede verse su inspiración en muchos diseños Actuales.

Algunos ejemplos actuales de relojes que se inspiran en las formas o en la filosofia de los  Spaceman de leMarquand

La Marca Diesel

tambien se caracteriza por inspirarse en los spaceman en sus colecciones

Uno de los ultimos modelos de Diesel el dz7079

otro modelo de diesel,tambien de la serie DZ, este inspirado claramente en el spaceman audacieuse

Identity London

Esta marca inglesa de relojes casuales, comercializaba hace poco un LED economico,

que es totalmente un Spaceman audacieuse LED

Tambien rondan por ahi algunos led con diseño «sospechoso» claramente de origen Chino

como este tik-tok watch

TOKIO BAY

La casa JAPONESA  Tokyo Bay, 

fabricaba tambien un «Hommage»  que era una replica directa en cuarzo del Spaceman Audacieuse, 
el Modelo  «Odessa» en Blanco Azul Y Negro

la viva imagen, pero al ser en cuarzo obviamente,  la caja de menor grosor que en el spaceman audacieuse

Por no hablar de Tokio Flash y sus famosos relojes binarios Futuristas

demasiados para adjuntarlos en esta galeria….

PERO SI HUBO UN DISEÑADOR INFLUIDO POR LOS SPACEMAN DE leMarquand ese fué,

PAUL SMITH

Sin duda fue el diseñador Ingles Paul Smith, el mas influido por estos relojes
y el mayor difusor de ellos en los 70.

Desde su humildes tiendas de Nottingham y en el Soho Londinense,

Entre 1976 y 1979

Paul Smith, vendia relojes Spaceman y ropa «Fashion».

Para todas las «celebrity» de la época,

pasar por la tienda de paul, era un «Must»,

sin duda una cita obligada para estar a la «ultima».

Hoy en dia Paul Smith es uno de los mayores exponentes del diseño Britanico y eso se nota en sus diseños actuales 

Ejemplo claro de su inspiracion en los Spaceman para sus colecciones Actuales

es por ejemplo uno de sus ultimos diseños de los 90,

ZENO

En contra a lo que habitualmente se cree, Nunca ha habido una reedicion especial de los famosos diseños

Originales de los Spaceman de los 70, sin embargo si que ha habido timidos intentos de resucitar su diseño original

y su exito comercial

Recientemente Zeno Watch basel lanzaba al mercado

una Revision Actual de los Spaceman ovales

El «Emotion Gladiator»

Se trata de una edicion Limitada a 1000 ejemplares (menos mal), y como podeis apreciar,

el Diseño del dial es idéntico al de los originales Spaceman de los 70, 

salvo que la caja ahora es convencional en acero cepillado y la visera es Desplegable con un grotesco diseño imitando el casco de una armadura de gladiador futurista.

CATENA

INCLUSO LA PROPIA CATENA INTENTÓ HACE ALGUNA AÑOS HACER UNA REISSUE DEL SPACEMAN OVAL

PERO EN QUARZO

Enfocado a ser simplemente un reloj de moda para señora,

La pena es que fueron a lo facil y lo superficial explotando la imagen mitica de su modelo

en lugar de ser una reedicion seria, y se quedo en un reloj casual corriente

Vamos catena que estamos en el siglo 21 y hay muchos materiales nuevos para experimentar!

Con caja  y correa en material  plastico flexible y agujas convencionales

en lugar de Corfam y Fibra de vidrio..obviamente  no tuvo mucho exito,

pasando practicamente  desapercibida

SPACEMAN – MODERN REISSUES & RELATED DESIGNS

Since its appearance in 1972, 
The Spaceman watches design of Andre leMarquand, Always left its mark on other great designers, and other famous characters from the world of entertainment 

The  «funky» Aesthetics of these watches has been an inspiration for years,  to many famous designers, that used its philosophy, to create newer designs with unusual  and fun shapes.
The Search of the Futuristic, and the Space Age influence is still alive,

and keeps on  inspiring  many current designs.

Some current examples of watches that are directly inspired by the shapes and the philosophy of leMarquand Spaceman watches, all this watches somewhat imitate the shape of glorious designs from the 70s

This Clothing Make, has a model that you will find very familiar, especially to lovers of  the Bulova brand,  

             The double-sided  Penguin LCD  watch, 

             a mixture of the Bulova  N7 and the spacesonic leMarquand model.

– The DIESEL Brand  

              Diesel was  also characterized to be  guided  usually by the spaceman look in their collections,

              For example One of the latest models, the Diesel dz7079  

              another model of diesel, also from the  DZ series,

              that its inspired clearly in the Spaceman Audacieuse

-Identity London 

                This British brand casual watches, recently traded an economical LED, 

                it’s totally a digital led audacieuse model 

Also floating around for some time now in the net , are some led «suspicious» designs

clearly of Chinese origin, like the  Tik-Tok watch featured in the gallery 

– TOKYO BAY 

                

                 Tokyo Bay, its a casual wear Japanese house,

                 that  also produced a Spaceman «Hommage»

                 which was a direct replica of the Audacieuse

                 Spaceman, in Quartz

                  

                 The «Odessa» models  in  White Blue and Black 

                  

                  No doubt a vivid picture, but being in quartz,

                  obviously  with a thinner  case, 

                  than the  original spaceman audacieuse sported.

                  

Not to mention Most famous Tokyo Flash JAPAN  Futurist  binary watches 

                  JUST…..too many to attach them to this gallery ….

BUT IF THERE WAS A DESIGNER  INFLUENCED BY THE WATCHES FROM  leMarquand

that was WITHOUT  DOUBT PAUL SMITH 

It was certainly the English designer Paul Smith, the most influenced by these WATCHES, and the largest broadcaster of them in Britain in the 70s. 

From its humble shops in Nottingham and London 
Between 1976 and 1979 
Paul Smith, was selling SPACEMAN watches and «Fashion» clothing  

For all the «celebrity» of the time,

to stop by paul´s shop  was a «Must»  on these days.

Today, Paul Smith is one of the best examples of British design and it shows in their current designs 

Example of his inspiration in the Spaceman to their current collection of watches

is for example one of his last designs of  the 90s,

Contrary to what is commonly believed,Theres never been a special reissue of the famous Spaceman watches in their original 70’s form designs,

However if there has been timid attempts to resurrect its original look
and commercial successZeno Watch Basel recently launched to the marketa contemporary review of the oval Spaceman

The «Emotion Gladiator»

This is a limited edition to 1000 copies (thank goodness), and as you can see,

The Design of the dial is identical to the original Spaceman of 70,

unless the case is now standard in brushed steel and the visor is an Expanding piece of metal

with a quite grotesque design imitating the hull of a futuristic gladiator armor.

The Gladiator: pure extravagance

Crafted in a limited edition of 1000 watches, the Gladiator is a remarkable example of how receptive the world market is to systematically implemented 1970s design artistry. With its conspicuous helmet-like face protectors, the Gladiator is indeed reminiscent of the legendary “Spaceman” model of that epoch. It is up to the owner to decide how much of its personality this prominent watch reveals. The optional lower cover can be opened like a helmet visor on a new horizon. Zeno-Watch Basel went all the way with this design, even to the extent of piercing triangular “vents” in the strap. The dial comes in black, brown, red, and green versions, making this watch not only a robust companion but also a fashion statement that underscores the personalities of the women and men who feel attracted to its unique look.

EVEN CATENA ON ITS OWN,  TRIED TO MAKE A REISSUE OR REMAKE OF THE OVAL SPACEMAN, 

BUT IN QUARTZ.

Focused as a trendy woman watch 

The pity is that they went to the easy and superficial, simply exploiting the mythical image of their own models

with cheap materials and nothing revolutionary

Come on catena, we are in the 21st century, there are lots of new materials to experiment with !

So instead of being a Proper reissue as it should be, stayed as a casual watch

currently with case and strap on flexible plastic material and conventional Hands

instead of the Corfam or  fiberglass ..  a total fail that obviously  had not much success,

passing almost unnoticed.
