EL SICURA MARINE  STAR,

Este es uno de esos relojes que Cuando nuevo,  parece que cuesta  10 veces mas de lo que valen

y sin embargo no siendo nada del otro jueves,

siempre me ha apetecido tener.

Basicamente, estamos hablando de un pseudo Diver barato,  con una estanqueidad hasta 600 pies

esto es, … unos irrisorios 200m…. aunque seguramente no resistiria ni la mitad,  sin corona a rosca,

con caja cromada y tapa trasera a presion y un sencillo movimiento pin-lever de 17 rubies Rondamatic

calibre 1239-21,

Vamos… el tipico reloj setentero sin valor alguno que le regalas a un niño para que lo estroze..

y que sin embargo tiene un yo que se, que se yo……… que me atrae Enormemente .. 

Será por su preciosa Esfera en ese azul tan profundo que Hipnotiza?..

El caso es que Este Reloj es un híbrido.

Un reloj en tierra de nadie..

Cuando Breitling fue vendida, fue adquirida por Ernest Schneider, de Sicura, con el objetivo de que el nombre de Breitling  sobreviviera. Una vez Absorbida la compañia, Sicura a continuación, utilizando movimientos de la fábrica de Breitling, fabricó por un corto periodo de tiempo una línea de relojes extraños 

conocidos como  Sicura Grenchen hybrids.

Estos relojes Marcados Marine-Star se dan un aire y tienen una semejanza notable con el Rolex Submariner de la epoca.

La razón para no poner una marca en el dial era su condición de híbrido. 

No era ni una Sicura de calidad media, ni un alto grado de Breitling. 

De modo que no fueron marcados por ninguna de las dos casas,

Ni siquiera en la Trasera,
Con el clásico Fondo de sicura con su escudo con 3 estrellas y un pez, rematado por una corona y junto a los dos caballitos de mar …….pero sin estar grabado como Sicura.

y a pesar de que aun se ve alguno rodando por ahi,

En general debido a su pobre calidad, es dificil encontrar uno en buen estado..

Casi siempre se ven modelos incompletos a los que le falta el bisel, como a este..

O con la caja totalmente corroida por el sudor y el uso como este otro

o sencillamente modelos de señora sin valor de coleccionismo alguno…

Pues apesar de todo ello …no me importaria tener uno,

asi que si tiene un marinestar New old stock como los de este video rondando por ahi..avisame…

seguro que llegamos a un acuerdo..;-)

This is one of those watches that  Back in the 70s when new,

it appeared that cost 10 times more than they’re worth.

and yet  even if this watch is nothing Special,

I always desired to have One.

Basically, we’re talking about a Cheap-o seudo Diver,

Marked with a water-resistantance up to 600 feet..

That is, … a derisory 200m ….

but probably never was a proper 200 metre diver even when new.

im sure will not survive even half that depth,

But still around and running despite  it being a cheap watch at the time.

–  Non screw-down crown 

–  Snap-back basic backplate

–  And a Simple pin-lever 17j  1239-21  Rondamatic caliber.

Just … the typical seventies worthless clock that you give to a child, 

for a slow painless destruction..

And yet have a self that is, to me ……… a Greatly appeal…

It will be,  because its beautiful blue sphere, so deep that Hypnotizes? ..

The key Story is This watch its an hybrid.

Its a watch in Nowhere land…

When Breitling was sold, it was purchased by Ernest Schneider of Sicura with the  Goal that the Breitling name would survive.  Sicura then, using up movements From the breitling factory, manufactured a line of strange watches known as  Sicura Grenchen hybrids.

These watches called Marine-Star, bear a remarkable likeness to the Rolex Submariner of that days.

The reason for not putting a brand name on the dial was its hybrid status. It was neither a medium quality Sicura, nor a high grade Breitling. The watch back does bear the Sicura trademark Though, not in wording, 

but  with the classical  shield with 3 stars and a fish, surrounded by a crown and alongside two seahorses.

The fact is that even Though  one can still see some of them rolling around, 

but because of  its general poor quality of materials,  it is really difficult to find one in good condition ..

Models Found are often incomplete and lacks the bezel, like this ones in the gallery..
Or with the Brass case wholly corroded by sweat and use.

Or simply  ladys models without much collector value

But despite all this…..  I would not mind having one.

So …if you have a Sicura Marinestar hanging around there in Mint New old stock  condition
like those in this video..
