SPACEMAN – AUDACIEUSE CON LUZ

EL SPACEMAN CON LUZ ORIGINAL :

el niño con «pijama de rayas» y con luz es sin duda uno de los spaceman audacieuse mas buscados

y que mas cotizan con precios rondando en estado *Nos* e impoluto como el mio,  los 900/1000€

Esta es mi unidad *NOS* IMPECABLE

Como veis en la galeria,

los Spaceman Audacieuse con dial a rayado,

cuentan con un boton superior aparte de la corona para la funcion luz,

esto que hoy nos parece tan nimio,

en su dia significó Toda una revolución,

puesto que en 1974 solo habia un par de modelos en el mercado con estas caracteristicas,

Como el Sutton/Sicura Installite Volta III

Si el Sicura fué el primer reloj jump hour en llevar un circuito incorporado para la funcion luz,

el Spaceman  audacieuse con luz fué el primer reloj mecanico en hacer lo mismo.

Los pioneros en incorporar luz en un reloj fueron  Allemann AD y Ernest Borel,

con los primeros prototipos.

En 1956  Hubo una Solicitud de patente para el uso de  iluminación eléctrica en los relojes de Ernest Borel (28 de septiembre de 1956, no. 336764 Suiza).

En 1957 El primer reloj con una pantalla iluminada por una lámpara pequeña de 1,2 mm, es el «Tourist Everlight ‘de Ad. Allemann Fils SA de Welschenrohr, Suiza.

Tres modelos fueron exhibidos en la Feria de Basilea 1957:

uno de acero, enchapado en oro y otro  de oro macizo de 18k  con una batería de plomo pequeña,

estos relojes eran Solares

El sistema denominado el ‘acumulador seco DEAC ‘  tenia que ser recargado por una batería de 1,5 V normales.

En los Estados Unidos, el «Everlight» fue distribuido por Robot Tiempo de Nueva York.

En 1958 En la Feria de Basilea, la Feria Mundial de Bruselas y en la Feria de Milán,

Ernest Borel estrena el «Flash»,

un reloj con un sistema incorporado en el acumulador tamaño de una moneda para iluminar la esfera.

El acumulador de plomo podia ser recargada por su propietario en 8 o  10 horas, a través de una conexión a una  batería de 1,5V tipo linterna. Esta tenia que estar conectada a la corona (polo positivo) y la caja (polo negativo).

La bombilla estaba  integrada en un anillo de plástico.

Cuando la bombilla tenia que ser cambiada, sólo habia que reemplazar el anillo.

Estos prototipos no resultaban muy prácticos y por tanto no llegaron a comercializarse con exito

En los 60 la casa Sparewa tambien retomó el sistema solar y tuvo su modelo Everlight

Cuando el uso de las pilas de boton se hizo común en 1971

 Brevinex SA de Ginebra, Suiza, presenta el ‘Etna Light Jet’.

Un reloj mecánico con alarma mecánica, luz eléctrica y dos celdas de energía esta vez ubicadas en  la correa.

Este fue el primer reloj comercial con funcion luz y dos pilas de boton.

La casa Mortima tenia un diseño parecido,

Y Tegrov  comercializó un reloj mecánico que imitaba a los carisimos y recien aparecidos leds.

El foco de luz ilumina una pequeña línea roja fluorescente detrás de un cristal rojo.

La ilusión que se crea  es que realmente los diodos emisores de luz se habian utilizado en el reloj,

un prototipo que ya hemos visto

recordar que le primer reloj LED

en usar baterias de boton fue puesto en el mercado por la Hamilton/Pulsar,

tan solo un par de años antes, el 4 de abril de 1972.

Y su precio era prohibitivo para la Época

hasta que en 1975 comenzara la revolucion japonesa de lcd dando un vuelco a los cimientos de la relojeria.

Finalmente EN 1974 apareció el  ‘Electric Instalite’ El Sicura, Volta III que incorporaba DOS pilas de boton para la funcion luz en la caja

Y seguidamente ese mismo año la version especial del Audacieuse con luz,

el primer reloj mecanico en usar solo UNA

El Spaceman Audacieuse Con luz Tenía que ser siempre,

Mecanico y no Automatico

Y podia venir en version con fechador sencillo o sin el.

Opcionalmente las agujas podian ser Anchas o Estrechas

Las unidades  con y sin fechador, Con el dial sin firmar

Eran las fabricadas por  la casa CATENA, como siempre, pero

Tambien podian venir firmadas por otras casas

generalmente por  Omax o Oranus

Aparte del Audacieuse Tiger

Existió Una version Automatica Con este dial de la casa Omax

PERO SIN LUZ

QUE ES LA QUE LAS REPLICAS DE EBAY INTENTAN IMITAR Y AL SER SIN LUZ

SI TIENE LA TRASERA GRABADA

Como veis,  aparte del dial a rayas,

una de las caracteristicas que difrerencia  

a los Audacieuse con luz , del resto de Audacieuse,

es que la placa trasera al llevar el hueco para la bateria,

NO VIENE GRABADA

Y que (en los modelos con fechador) es el unico modelo de la saga en llevar el fechador simple a las 3

el dial tambien es diferente, no solo por la decoración carcelaria,

sino porque es RECTANGULAR en lugar de CUADRADO.

Esto se debe a que el dial va sujeto por unos espaciadores negros
que ademas de servirle de soporte cumplen la función de tapar
el cableado de la luz superior.

Afortunadamente Piotr en su nuevo Website dispone de Una unidad identica a la mia

y la ha despiezado  aqui estan sus tripas

la vista lateral delata la corona y el pulsador para la luz

y la trasera el ingenioso tapon para cambiar la pila fácilmente sin abrir el reloj,

que años despues popularizaria el consorcio Swatch

Como veis el movimiento de los Spaceman audacieuse Con luz tenia que ser necesariamente

Mecanico

pues se trata de un movimiento de 17j DE SEÑORA

Puesto que Como las partes eléctricas tomaban demasido espacio,

(el Modulo electrico consiste en un soporte ceramico al que va soldado una pequeña lampara),

era el unico tipo de movimiento que cabia,

la versión sin luz montaba el tradicional automatico de 25j

Models ever made

And listed with High prices in this  state * Nos *, pristine like mine,  around 900/1000 Gbp

As you can see in the gallery

The Spaceman Audacieuse with the Stripped mirror dial, have a separate top button

of the crown for the light function,

This thing it now seems so trivial, in its day meant a True revolution in watchmaking,

since in 1974 there were only a couple of models on the market with these characteristics,

As the Sutton / Sicura Installite Volta III.

If the Sicura was the first jump hour watch  built with a light function, the audacieuse was first mechanical watch

to do the same in a single button battery

The pioneers in incorporating a light in wristwatches were were Allemann AD and Ernest Borel with their first prototypes.

– In 1956 a patent application for the use of electric lighting in watches was placed by Ernest Borel watches ( in September 28, 1956,

Brevet no. 336 764 Switzerland).

– In 1957  the first watch with an illuminated dial  by a small lamp of 1.2 mm, is the «Tourist Everlight ‘ by Ad. Allemann Welschenrohr Fils SA, Switzerland.

Three models of the Solar Tourist were exhibited at the Basel Fair 1957:

*A  steel, gold plating and a 18k solid gold with a small lead acid battery,

These watches were Solar powered

The system called the ‘DEAC Dry-Accumulator’  and had to be recharged by a normal 1.5 V battery.

In the United States, the ‘Robot Everlight’ was distributed by Robot Time New York.

– At the Basle Fair, the Brussels World Fair and at the Milan Fair, Ernest Borel premieres the ‘Flash’, a watch with a built-in coin sized accumulator to illuminate the dial.

The lead accumulator can be recharged by its owner in 8 to 10 hours, by means of connecting a normal 1.5 V flashlight battery.

This has to be connected to the crown (positive terminal) and the case (negative terminal).

The light bulb is integrated in a plastic ring.

When the lightbulb needs to be changed, only the ring needs to be replaced.

These prototypes were not very practical and therefore did not come successfully to the market

Within the 60´s  Sparewa  also made similar solar system and had his model Everlight

When the use of button cells became common in 1971,

Brevinex SA of Geneva, Switzerland, introduced the ‘Etna Light Jet’.

A mechanic with mechanical alarm clock, lamp and two fuel cells this time located on the strap.

This was the first commercial Wristwatch with Alarm light function and two button batteries  placed on the strap

Mortima had a similar design,

And Tegrov  marketed a mechanical watch that mimicked the expensive and recently appeared leds.

A LED imitating mechanical watch.

The small light bulb illuminates a red fluorescent dial behind a red crystal.

The illusion is created that actual light emitting diodes have been used in the watch.

Remember that the first LED watches with Button batteries were  put on the market by the Hamilton / Pulsar

just a couple of years before,  the April 4, 1972

and the price was prohibitive for the time until the Japanese lcd watch revolution that overturn the foundations of watchmaking.

– Finally in 1974 came the ‘Electric Instalite’,  The Sicura, Volta III  incorporating TWO  button cells for the light in the case

And then that same year the special version Audacieuse with light,

the first mechanical watch to use only ONE

– The Spaceman Audacieuse With light had to be always  mechanic windup and not Automatic

And could come in the simple date version or missing.

Optionally, the Hands could be wide or narrow

Catena made watches come with unsigned Dial as usual,

but the audaciuse with light

Could also be signed in the dial usually by  Oranus or  Omax

in the gallery you can see a great ORANUS unit  with signed dial,

Apart from the Tiger Audacieuse (ANOTHER NON LIGHT, BUT STRIPPED DIAL WATCH)

There was an Automatic version with the STRIPPED dial AND SIGNED BY  Omax 

BUT  WITH NO LIGHT

THAT IS THE UNIT THE  EBAY REPLICAS WITH NO LIGHT FUNTION USE TO IMITATE

Apart from striped dial one of the DIFERENTIAL characteristics that makes the Audaciesue with light,

Stand appart the rest of Audacieuse line ,

is that the back plate as had to  take the hole for the battery, DOES NOT COME signed in anyway

And the AUDACIEUSE with light (on models with date) is the only model in the series to take the dater at 3 

the dial is also different, not only for the Courious prison- like decoration,

but because it is rectangular rather than SQUARE. 

This is because the dial is secured by a black spacer
supporting the role of covering the upper light wiring.

Fortunately Piotr,  in his new Website has an identical unit to mine

from the same source, but his a bit cheaper 😉

and has taken photos of an exploded view

so the guts of the watch  are here

The electric module consist of a ceramic white substrate with soldered light-bulb.

The assembly is rather not removable and glued firmly into the case.

The light-bulb is a standard 1,5V type

The side view reveals the crown and the push for light

and the ingenious rear cap for easy battery replacement without opening the watch,
that years later popularized by the consortium Swatch

As you can see the movement of Spaceman audacieuse With light had to be necessarily

Mechanical

because it is a LADY 17J Movement.

Since the electric part takes a lot of space the watch had to be equipped with a smaller ladies Swiss movement,

as it was the only kind of movement that would fit,

Non light version sports the traditional automatic 25j
