El spaceman 7z es sin duda el «patito feo de la saga»
lanzados a finales de 1972 como variante «Seria»
y menos estrambotica tambien denominado «Spaceman flat»,
Esta version del spaceman oval de leMarquandt surgio en los primeros años para cubrir y dar respuesta con un diseño mas convencional
a aquellos que no eran tan atrevidos como para ponerse en la muñeca el siempre llamativo Spaceman oval.
Sin duda su diseño simplón no tuvo mucho exito
pues su produccion fué muy corta y debido a ello resurge hoy en dia como uno de los spaceman
mas dificil de adquirir.
Estuvo disponible en un principio en 2 colores
Negro Y Marron obscuro,
Despues salieron algunas variantes de dial como el crema y el azul
lo habia con fechador doble y sencillo y es el unico Spaceman de la saga que nunca estuvo disponible en version manual
al menos yo jamas he visto uno, son todos Automaticos.

Historia
los spaceman de andre le marquand
Son mis relojes «fetiche»,
Los que siempre me han quitado el sueño y que me iniciaron en el mundillo vintage,
asi que disculpad si me extiendo mas de la cuenta…
pero es que si no fuera por ellos nunca tendria ni papa de relojes.
y por tanto los culpables de mi CRI por los vintages 
Sinceramente creo que debo ser el mayor coleccionista de este tipo de relojes que hay en españa o al menos hasta hace poco
casi el unico….
Aqui,
para que no se haga eterno me voy a limitar a una breve descripcion para luego ir comentando las galerias y las piezas de mi coleccion

LOS SPACEMAN DE ANDRE LE MARQUAND

el spaceman oval
Este afamado arquitecto y diseñador se saco de la manga en 1972 una linea de relojes inusitada para la epoca.
A finales de los 60 Claude Lebet, Dueño de Catena pidió a Le Marquand que crease un reloj inspirado en la conquista de la luna y los Astronautas de la Misión Apollo.
Le Marquand le trajo un extraño dibujo con una silueta altamente inusual denominado como no «Spaceman.»

El Diseño no se parecia a nada Visto antes y Catena presentó su flota en la feria de Basilea de 1972.
Con una variedad de colores solamente posible en aquella maravillosa epoca
Andre Le Marquand presentó el primer spaceman oval en la feria de basel de ese año y nadie penso en aquel momento que un reloj con un diseño tan sumamente estrambotico llegara a venderse..
Sin embargo, vendió miles en los años posteriores, hasta 150.000 fueron manufacturados, y ninguna celebridad de hollywood de aquellos dias podia pasar sin tener
uno.
su atrevido diseño tipo «Driver» triunfó al no tener que girar la muñeca para ver la hora conduciendo
estos relojes se fabricaron bajo licencia por la mayoria de marcas de la epoca
(los 70 fue un boom de pequeños fabricantes)
como ZENO,HARLEM,CATENA,JULES JURGENSEN,OMAX,VIALUX,MEDANA,ETC..
los manufacturados por Catena suelen ser salvo modelos especiales los unicos que no vienen con el dial firmado el resto solia poner el fabricante en el dial.
Naturalmente se fabricaron cientos de imitaciones en hong kong y aun hoy en dia alguno lo sigue haciendo
estos relojes estaban diseñados basandose en el casco de un astronauta y celebraban de algun modo la llegada del hombre a la luna tres años antes
sus relojes utilizaban geberalmente un fiable calibre Automatico de A.schild de 25 rubies
y algunos modelos (los menos y mas raros) un calibre de 17 rubies similar pero mecanico.
el modelo se componia de 6 piezas en total a presion
y utilizaba materiales revolucionarios para la epoca como el plexiglass el corfam y la fibra de vidrio
la visera exterior de acero inoxidable cromado en forma oval
el casco interior en acero pintado al polvo en distintas
combinaciones de color
el cristal en plexiglass modeado en pico y con una inusual forma tridimensional
el dial en color a juego y tratamiento lume de baja radiacion (t<25)
dos tipos el normal y otro mas exclusivo y dificil de encontrar
al que llamaremos a partir de ahora dial alternativo
las agujas siempre en un tono naranja intenso
la caja de fibra de vidrio abombada superligera y resistente al agua
firmada spaceman swiss made
waterresistant incabloc fiberglass patented
y con la figura de un astronauta en relieve
siempre en color negro o blanco y en raras ocasiones* rojo.

roja solo he visto unas pocas y estan por confirmar que sean autenticas aunque me inclino a que si.
la caja va a presion no a rosca y garantizaba la estanqueidad
como este modelo se franquició a varios fabricantes
no hay numeros de serie 
circunstancia esta, que facilitó sin duda, las falsificaciones en su dia
la correa de Corfam un material diseñado por dupondt repelente a las manchas que se asimila al terciopelo y de cuero por atras siempre debe ir firmado spaceman en seis colores (Blanco Crema Marron Rojo Azul y Negro)
y el tag (etiqueta) muy raro de encontrar con un trapecio en plastico negro con acabado en cromo y tambien fimado con el logotipo spaceman
Habia tres modelos con diferentes configuraciones:
-totalmente sin fecha
-simplemente con dia
-y con dia y fecha
todos siempre con diales en fondo naranja chillon a juego con las agujas
en cuanto a los colores habia 6 variantes
Blanco dial azul – correa blanca caja blanca
Rojo dial rojo – correa roja caja blanca
Verde dial verde – correa crema caja blanca
Marron dial marron – correa marron caja negra
Azul dial azul – correa negra caja negra

cualquier variacion que veais, es un mecano
es decir se ha desmontado la unidad y se ha substituido la correa
la caja el casco por otra pieza de una unidad distinta
creando un FrankenSpaceman,de esos que en ocasiones pululan por ebay

si alguno creia que ya habia visto todos los spacemans ovales que hay..se equivoca..
si hay un spaceman raro y dificil de ver ese es el Spaceman 7z
Creado a partir de la estructura original del spaceman oval este diseño fue creado precisamente para aquellos que consideraban el diseño del spaceman convencional demasiado…atrevido.
sin duda su dial tan comun no resultaba tan atractivo y si bien complacia a los clientes mas discretos no resulto ser un diseño muy popular
precisamente el hecho de que se fabricaran pocas unidades al ser un modelo impopular lo convierte hoy en dia sin duda en uno de los spacemans mas buscados por los coleccionistas
4 diales distintos NEGRO MARRON OSCURO MARRON CLARO Y AZUL
EL SPACEMAN AUDACIEUSE:
tras el rotundo e inesperado exito del spaceman oval,
Andre leMarquand decició fijar sus objetivos en crear un modelo similar
de gama alta destinado al segmento de lujo
no lo he comentado pero el spaceman oval es un reloj grande
mide 48mm sin la corona 42mm de alto y alcanza 18mm de grosor
por el cristal de plexiglass domado
sin duda llamativo pero poco practico
con el spaceman audacieuse andre le marquand leMarquand buscaba
la perfeccion de formas y medidas y de hecho lo consiguió.
la pureza de sus lineas y su forma de trapecio volvio a sorprender
y con unas medidas de 40mm x 40mm y un grosor mas comedido
de 14.50mm consiguio hacer de este verdadera joya todo un icono
del diseño que seria admirado y imitado hasta la saciedad
en años venideros,
el Audacieuse es un reloj grande y majestuoso en la muñeca
pero a la vez perfectamente ponible para su uso diario
Ademas dotó a esta maravilla del diseño con un fiable movimiento
de 25 rubies
De nuevo el segundero y la fecha en brillante naranja color icono
de leMarquand y las agujas en bitono con reminiscencias japonesas
con los insertos en luminova en cuadrado en contraste con el color de las agujas (negro blanco o marron) algunas veces (las menos) en redondo
El Dial generalmente texturado siempre sin numeros solo indicadores cuadradoes a las 3 las 9 y las 12 y la fecha Siempre a las 6
(en ocasiones sin ella o con fecha y dia o solo fecha dependiendo del fabricante como en el caso del spaceman oval)
los colores hasta lo que mi sabiduria alcanza por lo menos 9 diferentes :
en marron (tipo cuero y degradado)
en color caramelo
en negro
en burdeos (rojo oscuro)
en azul marino oscuro
en azul claro
en Blanco
en verde mar (pocos, alguna unidad de omax muy rara)

La caja de nuevo con reminiscencias al casco de un astronauta
habia dos tipos la mas clasica en cromo y otras mucho mas dificiles de localizar y exclusivas en negro pavonado en cualquier caso todas comparten la misma fascinate forma y dimensiones trapeziodales y en triangulo al laterar para dejar espacio a la corona
la corona a las 3 en cromo o negro segun fabricante y año
la placa trasera atornillada por 4 tornillos en esquina
y tambien 2 variantes integral Pentagonal negro o acero cepillado
o en forma de tapa redonda a rosca esta SIEMPRE en negro
en ocasiones esta suelen pulirla para que parezca mas nueva
pero eso significa reloj manipulado.
Siempre firmadas con el logotipo spaceman
Waterressistant swiss made patented y esta vez si con numero de serie.
las correas de dos tipos AMBAS ASIMETRICAS en precioso acero
parte pulido parte cepillado y firmado spaceman en el broche del armis
o de elegante cuero brillante efecto charol en burdeos o negro
firmadas spaceman en el anverso
Aparte de los audacieuse convencionales
hubo dos variantes los de caja negra
y los digilight con dial estriado O EL PRIMER AUDACIEUSE CON LUZ
(eso de la luz EN UN RELOJ era lo mas y un hito en 1974)
ya sabeis de donde saco el consorcio swatch la idea de la pila intercambiable en sus relojes…
no he visto ningun spaceman audacieuse en metales preciosos oro o platino, pero me figuro de algun encargo como en el caso de algunos spaceman ovales
EL AUDACIEUSE JUMP HOURS
tambien se lanzo al mercado una timida apoximacion a los relojes digitales
como fue el audacieuse jump hours que no tuvo mucho exito y por ello son muy raros y avido objeto de deseo de los coleccionistas
solo conozco 2 modelos en rojo o azul, hay algunos como el de acero que os muestro es mas que posible que
lo hayan pulido y quitado el color que tendria arañazos por su edad.
y tambien he visto uno negro que seguramente sera repintado.
mas raro aún el modelo evoluciono EN 1975 a este modelo pre-digital y paso a denominarse AUDACIEUSE SPACESONIC
en 1976 con la llegada del led
se hizo una version led del spaceman oval rarisima
denominada SPACEMAN ELECTRONVOLT
LOS JAPONESES APRETABAN FUERTE A FINALES DE LOS 70
Y la marca daba ya sus ultimos coletazos comercializando relojes convencionales Y FORZOSAMENTE MAS ECONOMICOS con estetica spaceman como
la serie R-spacial
o los omax redondos

(en suiza no tuvieron mas remedio que rendirse a esta tendencia)

Estos relojes son una obra maestra de la relojeria y del diseño y por ello tienen su sitio y por ello estan permanentemente expuestos
en el museo de arte moderno de Nueva York.
ANDRE LE MARQUAND : EL GENIO
En arte de crear relojes de lujo fino, el talento no es nada sin trabajo duro. Pero el trabajo duro sin talento es igualmente improductivo. En el caso de André Le Marquand,la definicion de un incomensurable talento creativo quizas sea una descripción más apropiada.
Cuando el artista del Anglo-Suizo tomó el desafío de diseñar un reloj para la fabricación de la catenaria en los 60s, él no sabía en ese entonces que él era el destinado hacer una marca permanente en el arte del diseño relojero.
fue a mediados de los 60 ,cuando el tenaz e imaginativo arquitecto André Le Marquand no tomó rumbo simplemente hacia una nueva actividad, él entró en el mundo de la creacion de relojes con un celo verdaderamente religioso.
EL RELOJ DEL ESPACIO
Es 1968. En algunos meses, Neil Armstrong pondra por primera el pie en la luna.el proyecto apolo ya es conocido y es una realidad. Las películas de culto de la epoca tienen un cierto regustillo de ciencia ficcion como “2001, una Odisea en el Espacio” la pelicula que inspiro toda su creacion de la epoca.
Previamente a esto la casa ZENO Alcanzaba cierta importancia
en el mundo de la relojeria de alta gama,
Cada pieza fue marcada con una cruz suiza en el fondo de la caja. Desde entonces la compañía ha seguido innovando técnicas en la manufactura de los relojes.
En 1937 y con ocasión del XV aniversario de la marca ZENO, se manufacturaron los primeros relojes con función de paro integrada y telémetro acústico.
En 1949, los relojes ZENO fueron expuestos por primera vez en la Feria de Relojería Suiza, en Basilea.
En 1966, Felix W. Huber diseñó el primer reloj mecánico ZENO y, desde entonces, define la imagen de todos los relojes ZENO. Con la posterior adquisición de la empresa por la familia Huber, el montaje de los relojes de pulsera y el departamento de servicios se trasladaron a Basilea.

Y Como tributo a la conquista del espacio, André Le Marquand diseñó a su astronauta, un reloj que se puede admirar hoy contemplado como una obra maestra en todos los libros de diseño y en los museos de arte contemporaneo de todo el mundo.
Cuando Este reloj, con su mezcla diestra de curvas y de líneas rectas salió al la luz publica en 1972 en la feria de basilea nadie quedo indiferente. incluso las primeras reacciones fueron de estupor.nadie pensaba que un producto asi se venderia.
nada mas alejado de la realidad el reloj fue un exito tal que nadie que se preciara de estar a la ultima por aquel entonces podia pasar sin llevar uno
150.000 unidades fueron producidas en total y actores y celebridades de la época lucian sus spaceman con orgullo,maximo exponente del diseño y la liberacion de las costumbres.
Ademas el reloj, por su fisonomia innovadora no solo creo tendencia en diseño sino que se convirtio en el primero de los que despues vendrian a denominarse «drivers» ,relojes en los que podia leerse la hora de medio lado, absolutamente practico a la hora de ir conduciendo.
Hoy,expuesto permanentemente en el museo de arte moderno de Nueva York ese reloj tiene descendencia , lanzado en el mercado bajo el nombre de la media luna.
DE L’AUDACIEUSE AL AUDACITY
En la estela de su astronauta,y despues del repentino exito del Spaceman, André Le Marquand se encendió crear L’Audacieuse.
Un reloj semiautomático vanguardista angular que era uno de los primeros en combinar los diales análogos y digitales.
Esta vez le marquand quiso desmarcarse del aire juvenil que desprendia su anterior creacion y centrarse en la consecucion de un modelo mas selecto que hiciera tambalearse a las grandes marcas suizas, y vaya si lo consiguíó.
Evolucionando la frescura del Spaceman oval y llevandola mas allá, produciendo una verdadera joya de reloj por su pureza de lineas y su diseño Serio y anguloso .
La fuerza casi al punto de la agresión emana de este reloj.
«la guerra de las galaxias» de 1977 inspiraria este nuevo modelo que pasaremos a revisionar mas adelante.
LA ACTUALIDAD
Como tributo a L’Audacieuse, André Le Marquand tomó su inspiración de ese modelo anterior en una nueva creación lanzada en 2001, L’Audace.
Esta colección magnífica de relojes trapezio-formados es algo mas refrenada que su antepasado. También ha adquirido la nobleza que agrega un tacto de distinción incluso a la muñeca mas exigente.
Mientras que André Le Marquand aprecia ciertamente los relojes cuadrados – según lo reflejado en su colección magnífica de Chronos cuadrado – él no tiene ninguna vacilación en ablandar su presencia al lado de los diales en tonalidades en colores pastel – turquesa, color de rosa, madreperla y azul. Eso es un sello del talento para labrar y hacer relojes extraordinarios personalizados y del mas original diseño nunca visto.
Aunque su estilo choque abiertamente con las formas tradicionales de prestigio Relojero. Él ha dotado L’Audace con un cristal del zafiro, formado como un globo truncado, un caja abovedada que empareja las líneas de la muñeca, de un armis permutable, de un borde curvado y de 400 brilliantes, mientras que conserva un grado de la armonía que es en conjunto excepcional para un reloj de este tamaño.
35 AÑOS DE LA CREACIÓN, 25 AÑOS DE LA MARCA DE FÁBRICA
En 1978,tras el exito una vez mas del lanzamiento del audacieuse un año antes y después de diez años crear obras de arte para otros, André Le Marquand decidia establecerse en solitario. Sus días tempranos eran difíciles debido a la competición intensa en este mercado. El crear y el trabajo no son bastante. Las redes de los mercados y de las ventas se deben ser encontradas y los compradores ganar por encima.
De nuevo, la energía de André Le Marquand y su esposa trabajaron maravillas. Ganaron mercados importantes haciendo los modelos diseñados especialmente para el Oriente Medio. Hoy, la compañía incluso ha abierto su propia estructura de la distribución en los E.E.U.U. – un mercado dominante que es imprescindible al reconocimiento global de una marca de fábrica.
En 2003,con el modelo Phamtom, André Le Marquand celebró el 25 aniversario de su negocio. Hoy su hijo Cedric se encarga de la evolucion de la Marca Eso será seguramente una ocasión para mas creaciones excepcionales que lleven de nuevo el nombre prestigioso de este joyero muy lejos.

The ‘Spaceman 7Z’ is a less interesting variation, as this design has a Normal circular dial and an oval case.
The spaceman 7z is undoubtedly the «ugly duckling of the series»
Launched in late 1972 as the «Serious» variant of the saga
was also called the «flat Spaceman» and its way less bizarre than the Traditional oval spaceman,
With a more conventional design
For those who were not so bold to wear the always striking Oval Spaceman in their wrists.
No doubt its simple design was somewhat dull,
so it was not very successful model.
Because of that its production was very short,
so this models re-emerges today as one of the most difficult to acquire Vintage spacemans.
Originally It was available initially in 2 colors
Black and dark brown,
Then some variations of the dial came such as cream and blue
It had double or single dater, and its the only Spaceman in the saga that was never available in manual version
or at least I’ve never seen one, they are all automatics.

THE OVAL SPACEMAN
This famed architect and designer created in 1972 a line of watches really unusual for the time.
In the late sixties Claude Lebet, owner of the Bulle based watch brand Catena asked Le Marquand to create a timepiece inspired by man’s conquest of the moon and the astronauts who made it there. Mr. Le Marquand provided him with his first wristwatch design called, what else, the «Spaceman.»
The Spaceman was unlike anything seen before and Catena introduced them at the Basel Fair of 1972. The large oval case appeared to be docked on your wrist held by a triple-forked Corfam strap by DuPont. The case also had a coned dome crystal half concealed by a colored metal visor that allowed viewing of the dial to only the wearer. All hands and markers were perfectly seventies orange with models in a variety of colors only possible during that special decade.
When Andre Le Marquand presented the first spaceman oval in the Basel Fair that year and no one thought at the time that a watch with a design so extremely bizarre and weird were to be sold ..
But Andre Le Marquand, sold thousands in subsequent years to a total of 150.000
and no Hollywood celebrity of those days could pass without one.

these watches were manufactured under license by Many brands of the time

the saga was franchise to several manufacturers
but no serial numbers
a circumstance which certainly facilitated, counterfeits in their day
The corfam belt designed by dupondt, a material stain-repelent that is treated as velvet and leather back should always be signed spaceman in six colors (red brown cream white blue and black)
The Sales tag (label) very rare to find its a black plastic trapezoid with chromed like finish and also signed with the spaceman logo

And with day and date
all provided with dials in matching background with Bright Orange Hands
6 different colors
White dial blue – white belt white box
Red dial red – red belt white box

THE SPACEMAN AUDACIEUSE:
After the resounding success of the 1972 spaceman watches,
in 1974
Andre leMarquand decided to create a similar model
intended for high-end luxury segment
I have not commented yet but the spaceman oval is a large watch
48mm without the crown measures 42mm high and 18mm thick
certainly appealing but a bit impractical
Le Marquand seeked this time
the perfection of shapes and sizes and actually succeeded.
the purity of its lines and trapezoidal case again surprised
and measures 40mm x 40mm and a thickness more restrained
of 14.50mm got to make this gem an icon
design that would be admired and imitated ad nauseum

ANDRE LE MARQUANDT: THE GENIUS
In the art of creating fine timepieces, talent is nothing without hard work. But the hard work without talent is equally unproductive. In the case of André Le Marquand, the definition of an immeasurable creative talent may be a more appropriate description.
When the Anglo-Swiss artist took on the challenge of designing a watch for CATENA in the late 60s, he did not know then that he was destined to become a permanent simbol on the art of watch design.
was in the mid 60’s, when the tenacious and imaginative architect André Le Marquand was encomemnded this quest he did not take due simply to a new activity, he entered the world watches with a truly religious zeal.
This decade drew the unbridled exuberance, young people freed from the rigid morality. Flowed copiously own imagination and talents as Andy Warhol and the Beatles had burst onto the scene.
THE WATCH AREA
It is 1968. In some months, Neil Armstrong will put the first foot on the Moon , the Apollo Moonlanding is a reality. The cult films of the era have a smack of science fiction as «2001, a Space Odyssey,» the film that inspired its creation all the time.
Prior to this one small manufacturer reached a certain importance
in the world of high-end watches,
ZENO.
The first zeno watch was manufactured in 1922
Each piece was marked with a Swiss cross on the bottom of the box. Since then the company has continued to innovate techniques in the manufacture of watches.
In 1937 and to mark the fifteenth anniversary of the Zeno brand, the first watches were manufactured with stop function integrated acoustic rangefinder.
In 1949 ZENO watches were exhibited for the first time in the Swiss Watch Fair in Basel.
In the years following, the Zeno engineers designed several digital jump hour watches, pendant watches for nurses until 1960 that production tentatively tralara Biel Atteslander Workshop, which created the first mechanical watches for pilots.
In 1966, Dr. Peter Atteslander wholesalers and Eric Enggist bought the rights to ZENO and sold them to Felix W. Huber in 1973. Mr. Huber had worked for the company since 1964.
In 1966, Felix W. Huber designed the first mechanical watch ZENO and since then, defines the image of all ZENO watches. With the subsequent acquisition of the Huber family, the assembly of watches and the service department moved to Basel.
Among the earliest creations in Basel is the first diver’s watch Compressor vacuum in 1969 first presented at the Fair for Watches, Jewellery, also achieved an international reputation with the legendary and futuristic Spaceman.

And As a tribute to the conquest of space, designed by André Le Marquand his astronaut watch , a clock that can be admired today regarded as a masterpiece in every book of design and contemporary art museums around the world.
When this clock, with its skillful blend of curves and straight lines came to public light in 1972 at the Basel fair left no one indifferent. even the first reactions were Shocking. Nobody thought a product like that would sell.
nothing further from reality the watch was a success and 150.000 units where produced
Today, permanently exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York that clock has offspring, launched in the market under the name of the crescent.
THE AUDACITY OF L’AUDACIEUSE
In the wake of his astronaut, and then the sudden success of the Spaceman, André Le Marquand went on to create L’Audacieuse.
A clock angular semi-avant-garde was one of the first to combine digital and analog dials.
This time I wanted to get open air Marquand youth off his previous creation and focus on the achievement of a most select to do rocked the Swiss brands, and boy, he did it.

Si, alguna vez he visto spaceman con ese tipo de correa..si es la que me figuro es igual pero totalmente en plastico y sin la capa de corfam superior, pero muy distinta a las correas aftermarket que estamos acostumbrados a ver
creo recordar que es un estilo asi parecida a la que lleva el spaceman electronvolt fijate en la foto
otro misterio sin resolver, me figuro que sera un repuesto original de epoca y no de los actuales
